HDSRL 2009 Race #1 - Thirsk

- Date: Thursday 7th May race starts 7.45pm
- Organising club: Thirsk & Sowerby Harriers
- Course: the 2-lap course is approx. 5 miles (just over, according to GPS) and is mainly road running.
The Start and the Finish are on grass playing fields near the swimming pool (5-10 mins walk from Thirsk Athletic Club. Runners will be led from Thirsk Athletic Club to the Start at 7.30pm.)
There will be just over a lap of the field at the Start and about three-quarters of a lap at the Finish.
Runners MUST NOT use the toilets at the swimming pool, please use the ones at the Athletics Club. - Venue: Thirsk Athletic Club, Newsham Road (Thirsk racecourse)
for parking, changing, and post-race social food/bar.
Parking should also be available at the Market Square. - Travel: The Athletic Club clubhouse is on Newsham Road by the side of Thirsk racecourse.

League runners will be saddened to hear of the sudden passing away of Norman Smith,
a member of Thirsk & Sowerby Harriers who was a force in the League and its President for many years.
Many runners will also know him as the organiser of the Thirsk 10, and for his involvement in many other
aspects of local running.
The funeral was at Sowerby Methodist Chapel, on Monday 30th March. Friends might like to make a donation to the British Heart Foundation.
There will be a minute's silence at the start of the Thirsk race, to remember Norman.
